the revolution goes bbc

“Us Daves gotta stick together.” he said with an ominous nod. “Ain’t nobody else gonna do it for us.”

Since that day, my fellow Daves and I (collectively known as Davi) have been on a wicked long quest to “Put the Dave back in David”. This worldwide grassroots movement has had its challenges and setbacks, certainly, but today we are pleased to announce a major breakthru.

Check it out.

Oh, and next time you’re in ATL, check out Dave FM.

Instant Ramification

Noticed something… mmm, today or last night… that is, while visitors always look for the recent posts, there is very little action on the pages. I always check pages. I actually update pages more often than i post (still not often, but more often). Pages provide a consistent context within which the posts make sense and help move things along. I saw a quote yesterday from Seneca: “To the person who does not know where he wants to go, there is no favorable wind.” Pages provide that direction, and posts are that favorable wind… or maybe it’s the other way ’round. Regardless, pages are important to me.

What brings this up? You did.

That last comment from the last post asks where i’ve gone. Which i appreciate, Josh. It makes me feel like people are actually interested in what they might find here. Anyway, my internal response was “check the pages! that’s where the action is” and then i realised that i never hype the pages in the posts. Sorry, my fault.

So, check the pages. I sort of base everything else on those. Except the Lego one- that’s a complete waste of time. And by the way, that quote from Seneca… the article didn’t specify whether it was the Lesser or the Elder. Sorry, not my fault.

apparently untitled

There’s a used-car lot a few blocks from our home that we pass each day on the way to work. The car at the very corner of the lot always seems to be the “featured” car. This week, the feature is a Tahoe or something like that. On the windshield is written “2004″ indicating (presumably) the year the car was manufactured. Under that is written, “Tough Enough” and that’s all. We are left to ponder all the possible situations and circumstances under which one might ask, “Is my chosen vehicle tough enough for this?”

You should check out Josh Hunter’s blog today- there’s a lovely picture there of some rudimentary cloning he’s been doing in their apartment. Good stuff.

Philadelphia

We had friends in from PhillyCheeseSteak this weekend… it was like a slumber party, in a good way. Mike and Grace are amazing, artistic people. We talked about lots of stuff for hours on end, what sticks in my mind was the “editor vs. artist” debate and the role of the critic in artistic development. This is where i would link you to their site, but they don’t have one. They claim to not have the time for that sort of thing. Mike and I (just Mike) drew spectacles on the stone lion in our backyard as an homage to our (my) favourite wise-guy, Edmund- Ya! Silly old lion! (9.20, Cara points out she wanted to do this from the day we moved into the house with the stone lion and that i didn’t give her any props for the idea. Well, i did when talking with Mike about it. Just not in this post.)

I hear the sound of someone whetting a knife in the next room as we (i) speak. How appropriate!

Saw Bourne Ultimatum just a couple hours ago-0 sorry if you wanted to come, it was kind of last minute. We thought it was pretty great, a fitting wrap-up to the trilogy if they stop with just the three movies, though there’s talk of at least one more. Highly recommending the Bourne movies to all; we are in the midst of the emergence of a pomo spy franchise, the likes of which only Bondologists can speak with any authority.

Speaking of semi-colons… i use them alot because i read that only college-educated people use semi-colons. Since i don’t actually have such an education, i like to give the impression that i do; have one, that is.

Strength Quote: Deliberative
